Frequently Asked
Questions
1. Do I need to be fit to join your course?
No. You do not need to be fit or particularly agile. The
course is designed for 'everywoman' regardless of age
or ability. We do some simple warm-up exercises
before we take you through the physical techniques.
You are free to opt out of any part of the course if you
feel uncomfortable or choose not to take part.
2. What does the course cost?
The standard cost is £1500 per course for public and
commercial organisations and £600 for community
groups, which provides places for 8-12 participants.
We can sometimes offer discounts for non-profit
making groups and individuals - please use the
contact form and we will be happy to discuss this
further with you.
3. How much of my time will it take?
The course lasts 9 hours and this is all the time it will
take. You are not required to do any preparation or
homework but many women like to practice some of
the physical techniques on their own at home
between sessions.
4. Is there an age restriction?
The course is aimed at women over the age of 14.
However, participants aged between 14 and 18 will
need a signed parental consent form.
5. Can I bring my daughter with me?
Yes, it is common for mothers and daughters (aged
14+) to attend the course together. In addition to
developing and enhancing their options for self
defence, it seems to be a great bonding experience
for them.
6. I have a medical condition, do I need to bring a
doctor's note with me?
This will depend on the condition you have - please
contact us before you book a course so we can
discuss. Women with conditions such as asthma or
epilepsy can fully participate without any problems. All
participants are required to complete a simple medical
declaration form.
7. Do I need to wear special clothing or shoes?
No. However, you might find it easier to wear
comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and flat shoes during
the practice sessions. This is because we repeat the
techniques a number of times and it will help with
ease of movement.
8. How do I join a course?
You can join as an individual or through a community
group which you are a member of. Companies and
organisations can also commission courses. Use the
form on the contact us page to send us your request
and we will get back to you.
9. When and where is the next course?
We are currently running courses in the North-West of
England. If you would like to join one of our courses,
please contact us to register your interest and we will
get back to you.
If you have a question which is not covered here,
please use the form on the contact us page.
"it was great getting the
chance to talk to other
women about different
experiences and realising
what risks I had taken. I'll
make sure I won't get into
risky situations again"
